Don Nevins Memorial Volunteer of the Year - 2007

The Don Nevins Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award was created to honor a CERT volunteer who has had outstanding dedication to the team and made a significant contribution to promoting preparedness and training in our community.  Nevins was a founding member of Greater Tampa CERT and was a life long advocate for community involvement.

Our first recipient, Bette McCullough,  was also a founding member of the Greater Tampa CERT program which began in 2002.  She has been an integral member of the team, participating as vice president and currently, as treasurer of the organization.  Bette has always gone above and beyond to assist with the training of CERT members in our community.  She has set up all the basic CERT classes and attends each and every one.  She assists the TFR instructors and makes sure that everyone gets the most out of the CERT training.  She truly exemplifies the dedication that Don had towards his community, volunteerism and the CERT program.
