The City of Tampa's Housing and Community Development Division (HCD) is
part of the Growth Management and Development Services Department.
HCD Mission
To maintain the
City's existing housing stock while providing new homeownership opportunities for City of Tampa citizens.
The Housing and Community Development Division of the
Department of Growth Management and Development Services
administers a variety of housing programs that assist
eligible low and moderate-income residents purchase,
rent or rehabilitate existing housing units located
within
the City of Tampa limits. The housing programs currently managed by this
division include programs using both Federal and State
funds. The State Housing Initiatives Program (SHIP),
Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME), and the
Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), offer
loans and/or grants to prospective homebuyers,
homeowners or developers for the purchase,
rehabilitation or construction of new affordable housing
units.
In addition to housing, HCD invests in Tampa's neighborhoods by
participating in and supporting many social
services and economic development projects that continue to have a
positive impact on our community.
In partnership with local non-profit organizations, lenders and
private developers, the city invests its federal grant funds to
redevelop older neighborhoods and Tampa's neediest communities.
