Janitorial Services

Approximately 1.3 million square feet of space is under contract at a cost of $2.16 million and in-house janitorial services are provided to over 500,000 square feet of floor space with a staff of 43 City personnel. This will reduce the number of employees by 38 once fully implemented.

The original estimated savings for this initiative was based on an estimated in-house cost-per-square-foot for Parks and Recreation and the Parking Division calculated at $3.28 and $3.10 respectively.  38 Employees (27/11) deliver these services.  The Parking Division had challenges with the severability of Service Attendant duties which lead to a revision of the initial savings estimate to include only 31 positions (27/4). After completing a Request for Proposals (RFP) through the Purchasing Department, a highest ranked proposal from United Services Group (USG) based in Clearwater, Florida generated proposed savings of over $430K.  City Council chose not to approve this contract because of the employee impact.
