An employer showcase will be held Wednesday, May 17,
8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel on Cypress Street in Tampa. The employment
committee has scheduled this showcase to inform prospective employers about the hidden

SEMINAR.
The President's Committee on Employment of People
with Disabilities is seeking applicants for the 2000 National Leadership Conference for
Youth with Disabilities. The conference is scheduled for June 24 to 28 in Washington,
D.C., and will expose future leaders of those with disabilities to federal political
structures, career development and networking opportunities. Prospective participants must

TORCH RUN TO COMMEMORATE 10TH ANNIVERSARY
OF ADA.
Self-Reliance of Tampa and Caring and Sharing of St.
Petersburg are planning a community wide celebration of the 10th anniversary of the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The celebration will be a torch run relay, Saturday
Evening, July 27, over the Gandy Bridge Friendship Trail. The relay will demonstrate the
unity of the Tampa Bay Area in support of the ADA. Anyone wishing to join the committee

ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIRS AVAILABLE.
Miracle On Wheels has electric wheelchairs available
for qualified senior citizens ages 65 and older and persons who are disabled of any age.
Those who apply for the wheelchairs have to meet certain qualifications. The wheelchairs
are available for those who cannot walk or use a manual wheelchair in their home or

FREE WORKSHOP ON TRAUMATIC
BRAIN INJURY.
The Department of Children and Families (DCF) and
the Brain Injury Association of Florida (BIAF) will hold a free four-hour workshop dealing
with traumatic brain injury. The workshop will be held at the DCF District Office Building

vision program, which offers free eye exams and a pair of prescription glasses to
