at Raymond James Stadium and Mayor Iorio welcomed the
organizers to our community.

June 24, 2004 In recognition of her retirement,
Angela Howard received a letter of thanks for her many
years of service to the citizens of Tampa. Angela has been
a public servant for 30 years in the Revenue and Finance
Department and she will be missed by her colleagues. |

service announcement for The Florida Aquarium showcasing
its newest attraction Explore-a-Shore, the Mayor spoke
with visitors about their trip to the Aquarium. The 30

the School District of Hillsborough County will conduct
the Mayor's Summer Reading Program in six City of Tampa
recreation centers. Books are Fun representative Carmen
Ganni showed McLane Middle School teacher Candace Chatmen
incentive give-aways for children to encourage reading
such as pencils, markers, erasers and certificates. |

resident and World Light Heavyweight Boxing Champion
Antonio Tarver to city hall. The Mayor proclaimed June 18,
2004 "Antonio Magic Man Tarver Day" and gave him a key to

Mayor's Beautification Program's STEPS program (Success
Through Environmental Partnerships & Service) met with the
Mayor during their 2004 summer program field trip
activities day. Following their visit to city hall, the
students practiced interviewing skills at a local law

Marketing Executives International held their Annual Peak
Performer Awards Night and Annual Dinner at Higgins Hall.

officers officially celebrated the opening of their new
headquarters with a ribbon cutting ceremony held in front
of the bank's doors at One Tampa City Center, located on
Jackson Street in downtown Tampa. |

clean-up event for a recently acquired property in their
community. Led by Chloe Coney, the CDC will transform the
former night club establishment into a Urban Enterprise
Center geared toward creating jobs in the community. |

June 12, 2004 During the Tampa Heights
Greenprinting Festival, the conceptual plan for Robles
Park was unveiled to the community. Greenprinting is a
unique public/private partnership between the residents of
Tampa Heights, the Mayor's Beautification Program, the
Lykes Foundation and the City of Tampa. It recognizes the
importance of open spaces to our quality of life.

June 12, 2004 Southeast Seminole Heights
Neighborhood Association President Beverly Morrow was
joined by Mayor Pam Iorio and Tampa City Council Members
Rose Ferlita and Kevin White for the unveiling of the 2003
Neighborhood of the Year sign. The recently installed
marker along Nebraska Avenue recognizes the association's
achievement of the 2003 Neighborhood of the Year Award
received last year during the Neighborhoods USA conference
in Chattanooga, Tennessee . |

Lightning Strikes to Win Stanley Cup, City Celebrates With
Victory Parade

The City of Tampa held a parade in
celebration of the Tampa Bay Lightning's 2004 Stanley Cup
victory. Over 20,000 fans attended the parade, which began
at the St. Pete Times Forum, looped around the streets of
downtown and ended with a celebration inside the Forum.
The victory parade featured
Lightning players, coaches and staff as well as Mayor Pam
Iorio, Mayor Rick Baker of St. Petersburg, Mayor Brian
Aungst of Clearwater, Tampa City Council Chair Gwen Miller
and Hillsborough County Board of County Commission Chair
Tom Scott. Tampa Police Department and Tampa Fire Rescue
were also among the participants.
During the celebration, which
included highlights from Game 7 of the championship
playoff, Lightning players and coaching staff had an
opportunity to thank fans for their unwavering support.
Both the parade and victory celebration afforded fans an
opportunity to view Lord Stanley's Cup and the Conn Smythe
Trophy won by center Brad Richards as playoff MVP.
On Thursday, June 10, a day
following the celebration, Martin St. Louis received the
Hart Trophy as the National Hockey League's MVP. St. Louis
also captured the Art Ross Trophy as the League’s scoring
leader. |

from the mayor on behalf of the city that commemorates the
annual celebration.

In celebration of Code Enforcement
Appreciation Week, Mayor Pam Iorio met with the code
enforcement department as well as the solid waste
department's code enforcement team. She presented
employees with an official proclamation that will be
placed in the department's office, located in the historic
Free Library. |

Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla recreated a
group photo from 1904 on the grounds of the University of
Tampa, then known as the Tampa Bay Hotel. The photo was
taken for the Gasparilla Centennial Book, which will
chronicle the history of Gasparilla. Krewe members as well
as the Fair Authority, Tampa Yacht Club, and past queens
participated in the photo.

Hundreds of neighborhood and
community leaders joined Mayor Iorio and members of Tampa
City Council for the kick off of a civic pride campaign
entitled "I am Tampa, doing my part!" By design, the
campaign seeks to recognize that each of us is Tampa. Our
day to day jobs and activities affect the city we are and
ultimately the city we can become. The campaign kicked off
with a dozen different billboard messages throughout the
city. In addition, a song about Tampa was developed along
with a television spot. The campaign was funded by Tampa
Electric Company, Bank of Tampa, Ferman Motor Car Company
and Tampa Steel Erecting Company. |

June 2, 2004 Young women from all over
Hillsborough County participating in Girls State met with
the mayor to discuss women in politics as well as local
issues in our community. The girls had an opportunity to
ask questions and discuss their ideas. |

June 1, 2004 Three local Girl Scouts visited with
the mayor after being recognized for selling over 1500
boxes of Girl Scout Cookies during their annual drive. The
Girl Scouts spent the day meeting with local community
leaders and enjoying a morning at International Plaza. |
