To keep Tampa’s diverse neighborhoods strong, the City is committed to a philosophy of providing quality basic services that taxpayers expect at the best possible value. This philosophy recognizes the importance of constantly investing tax dollars in those quality of life initiatives that make a difference on a day-to-day basis. As part of the Investing in Neighborhoods strategy, the City will embark on a sustained program to ensure Tampa's neighborhoods are safe and secure, and that they have clean and attractive streets, a quality infrastructure, varied recreational and cultural facilities, and are served by a responsive government.

Public safety is one of the highest priorities of this strategic focus area, and strategies to strengthen Tampa’s community policing program will be pursued, as well as strategies to provide quality fire protection and emergency response services. Code enforcement plays an integral part in maintaining public safety as well as promoting attractive neighborhoods.

Additionally, a responsive government, with an emphasis on communication with residents will provide on-going support, problem resolution and service to neighborhoods in promoting quality of life issues.
