The City of Tampa Mayor's African American Advisory Council [MAAAC] is a unique organization of African American professional business owners and neighborhood leaders who have been working together in our communities since 1981.

Vision:

MAAAC is committed to creating an environment where every citizen is engaged and informed.

Mission:

The City of Tampa Mayor's African American Advisory Council is to serve as a liaison

between Tampa's Mayor and its community stakeholders, within the City of Tampa.

 Goal:

To be a primary contributor to a continually progressive and efficient working relationship

between the Mayor's Administration and the African American Community within the City of Tampa.

MAAAC will prepare every person in Tampa to become aware of concerns

in the African American community.

Our Purpose

Our purpose of the City of Tampa Mayor's African American Advisory Council is to serve as a liaison between Tampa's Mayor and various governmental agencies, community groups, civic organizations, and religious institutions, regarding the importance of good race relations.

  • To develop a means to keep the community aware of changes in policy and procedures to help increase the understanding of the functions of government.

  • To become part of a communication network which will disseminate resourceful information to the community at large.

  • To bring to the attention of governmental officials, community problems which perpetuate racial unrest.
