The City of Tampa's Mayor's African American Advisory Council (MAAAC), in
collaboration with the City of Tampa Minority Business Development Division and the
City of Tampa Neighborhood & Community Relations Office
hosted the 2008 Small & Minority Business Symposium on Saturday,
April 26, 2008 at the Hillsborough Community College Ybor Campus
from 8:00am - 4:00pm, located at
2001 14th Street within Historic Ybor City.
The event was proudly sponsored in partnership by Title Sponsors Bright
House Networks, Hillsborough Community College, Panera Breads, Time Customer
Service, Inc. Platinum Sponsors The Florida Sentinel Bulletin,
Smoothie King and Tampa International Airport, along with various
community and corporate partners are also on board.
The Symposium was a city-wide community outreach, bringing together small and
minority businesses seeking to increase opportunities to do business with
the City of Tampa, public/private sectors and other businesses.
The event was FREE and open to the public and
featured:

from the business and professional industry

Solution-Based Workshops on Training/Education/Business
Skills Development, a Construction Tract on Business Plan Development,
Education on Bidding Basics, Financial Freedom Resources and Business
Makeovers for new and existing businesses

Business matching Trade Show with introduction
opportunities to market your businesses with local businesses from the City,
public/private sectors and other local entities

Post Symposium Forum with light appetizers and special
guest keynote speakers from the business and professional industry
The Symposium provided a FREE
networking luncheon courtesy of Panera Breads and chances to cool off the
hot days event with a cold treat courtesy of Smoothie King.
