News and EventsCity of Tampa Hispanic Heritage Celebration - Wednesday, October 15, 2008 11:00 a.m. A midday event held at the Tampa Theatre, 711 N. Franklin Street. The event celebrates Hispanic Heritage and Culture beginning with the Mayor’s reading of a proclamation. Listen to the humorous observations of emcee Tedd Webb. Learn a little bit about Hispanic culture or history from our guest speaker. Enjoy entertainment with a Hispanic flavor as you listen to the sounds of sultry Latin singers or watch hips sway and toes tap to the heat of Latin rhythms. This event is free and open to the public. Approximately 500 or more guests are expected, including local schools, senior citizens groups, city and county officials and members of the community. The first 300 guests will receive a light lunch (un Sabor Latino). The event is aired live on CTTV (Channel 15) with several broadcasts aired throughout the Hispanic Heritage Season. Enjoy a night of fine dining with Tampa’s Mayor Pam Iorio and dancing to live entertainment. Show off your skills playing Black Jack or try your luck at the craps or roulette tables in our complimentary casino and increase your chances of winning wonderful door prizes. Visit our silent auction tables to place your bids on cruise packages, roundtrip airline tickets, sports memorabilia and other exciting items. Approximately 500 guests are expected to attend and with each
successful year media coverage increases. The event is advertised in
printed media as well as radio and T.V.
Latin Fest - 2007 - Temporarily Postponed A lunchtime event held at Historic Lykes Gaslight Park on Franklin Street (downtown Tampa). Savor a traditional Spanish lunch served by local celebrities such as Mayor Iorio, government officials and local media personalities. Purchase your lunch ticket in advance or at the event and you’re automatically entered to win one of our many door prizes. Enjoy performances by local singers and dancers while you eat or visit the many vendor tables to learn about services available for Hispanic Citizens or perhaps you may want to purchase the various goods and artworks displayed by local Hispanic artisans. Meet local sports Mascots and perhaps get an autograph from a local sports figure. The event is attended by 800 or more guests and receives media coverage. Vendor opportunities available.
