DESOTO ELEMENTARY HOLIDAY SOCIAL

Each year, before the students break for the Winter Holidays, the Mayor's Hispanic Heritage Committee hosts a cake (or cookies) and ice cream social for the students at DeSoto Elementary, located in the Palmetto Beach area near Ybor City.

Before the Holiday Social is held, during early November, the Kindergarten classes write their letters to ‘Santa’.  The letters are routed to the Mayor's Hispanic Heritage Committee whose members 'adopt’ these children and purchase items out of pocket. With assistance from Committee Members and the Mayor, Santa will deliver the gifts during the annual Holiday Social.
