Q. How do I get certified as a
Women/Minority Business Enterprise (WMBE)?
A. You must complete an
application for certification
(PDF, 159kb).
Q. How does the WMBE Program work? A. The WMBE program provides notification of bidding opportunities of the
services you have identified to the City. Notification is either by fax or
via our Customer Service Center.
Q. How long does it take to get certified? A.
Your company can be certified within 30 days of receipt of all required
information providing an on-site and/or interview has been conducted.
Small Business Enterprise
Program (FAQs)
Q. Are there any special requirements for the
Small
Business Enterprise Program (SBE)? A. If your business is
located in either Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, Pinellas or Manatee County, has
been in operation for at least 6 months, has 25 or fewer permanent, full-time
employees, and gross revenues averaged over 3 years does not exceed 2 million dollars, then you
may qualify.
Q. How do I bid for SBE projects? A. Once you are certified, the City of Tampa will automatically
notify you of any upcoming bids for the services you identified you can
perform.
Q. How do I get certified as a Small Business Enterprise
(SBE)? A. You must complete an

Q. What is the
Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative
Action Program (EEO/AA)? A. The EEO/AA Program was developed to assist businesses hire
employees that match the local demographics of their community.
Q. Must I comply with the EEO/AA program before I submit
a bid? A. No. Your business has up to 120 days after the award of the bid to
comply with the program requirements.
Q. Does the City provide help or provide assistance in
developing an affirmative action plan? A. Yes. You may call (813) 274-5522 to get assistance in developing
your affirmative action plan. Office hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday-Friday
(Eastern Standard time).
