Shanon Edge

Shannon Edge was appointed Director of Neighborhood & Community Relations on March 28, 2003 by Mayor Pam Iorio.  As Director, she is responsible for the oversight, development and management of the Neighborhood & Community Relations Office, which serves as the link between the City of Tampa’s Administration and the citizens of Tampa. 

Ms. Edge grew up in Tampa and graduated from Plant High School in 1988.  After graduating from Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia in 1992 with a Political Science degree and a year exchange at Washington & Lee University, Ms. Edge began her public career as a Legislative Correspondent in Senator Bob Graham’s Washington D.C. Office.  In her capacity, she researched and responded to legislative inquiries for the Senators signature on budget, tax, defense and human reproduction issues and represented Senator Graham in meetings with lobbyists and constituents.

In 1993, Congressman Sam Gibbons hired Ms. Edge to be a Legislative Aide where she worked directly with the Congressman on budget, human resources, education, labor, Value Added Tax, veterans, civil service and Ways and Means Human Resources Committee issues.  She represented Congressman Gibbons in meetings with lobbyist, military, and constituents.   For the Normandy 50th Anniversary which President Clinton asked Congressman Gibbons to be the United States representative in Normandy, Ms. Edge served as Congressman Gibbons special aide for the anniversary.

From 1995 through 2000, Ms. Edge was the Regional Marketing Manager for the Telluride Ski & Golf Company in Colorado.  In this capacity, she was responsible for the Season Pass and Telluride Card sales, marketing plans, budgets, advertising, direct mail campaigns, website e-mail blasts and satellite sales locations.  In 1997 to 1998, she generated $2.8 million in sales revenue and in 1998 to 1999, she generated $3.3 million in sales revenue.  Ms. Edge was recognized as the Employee of the month in July 1997.      

Ms. Edge returned to Tampa in April 2000 where she was hired by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s Committee of One Hundred as the Director of Corporate & Investor Relations.  Ms. Edge was responsible for the management of the Investor Relations Program for the Committee of One Hundred Investors, which included communications with all of the investors, meeting and event planning, fundraising, special programs, community outreach and membership retention.

Currently, Ms. Edge serves collectively on 19 boards, committees and task forces.
