Santiago Corrada, Administrator of Neighborhood ServicesSantiago Corrada was appointed the Administrator of Neighborhood Services in May 2004. This new position was created to support the administration’s commitment and investment in neighborhoods. Bringing nearly 20 years of public service and management experience to the position, Mr. Corrada is responsible for coordinating and directing five city departments: Neighborhood and Community Relations, Arts and Cultural Affairs, Community Affairs, Code Enforcement and the Parks and Recreation Department. Previously, Mr. Corrada served as the City of Miami’s Director of the Parks and Recreation, where he focused on improving the city’s parks and recreational facilities, and developed a partnership with the Miami Dade School Board to provide reading instruction to children participating in summer park and recreation programs. Mr. Corrada spent 17 years with the Miami-Dade County school system prior to serving in Miami city government A problem-solver who motivated and inspired students, he is credited with procuring $1.2 million for improvements from the district to improve school property and student morale. Mr. Corrada routinely held community meetings, involving parents and students in the decision making process. In 1999, Mr. Corrada was selected Principal of the Year, Region IV. Santiago Corrada graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of
Miami in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, Exceptional
Student Education. In 1991 he earned his Masters Degree from the
University of Miami in Educational Leadership. He is currently working
on his Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Administration at
Florida International University.
