February 1996 Mr. Bloch agrees to do a project in Tampa.

May 1997 City Council approves site selection
September 1998 Presentation of concept is made to Mr. Bloch in St. Louis with approval of concept.
June 1997 Groundbreaking ceremony takes place at Al Lopez Park, Plaza Site.
January 1999 Agreement executed between the City of Tampa and the Bloch Cancer Foundation, Inc.
July 1999 City negotiates fees and hires HOK, Inc. and David Conner & Associates to prepare construction documents.
June 2000 Construction documents completed
August 2000 Project let for bid through City of Tampa Department of Public Works.
November 2000 Bids opened. Base bid over construction budget by $136,627
May 2001 Flow study completed by City consultant for ditch along Dale Mabry Hwy. adjacent to the project.
February 2001 City meets with Director of Moffit Cancer Institute to discuss their involvement in project
October 2001 City enters into an agreement with Mayor's Beautification Program to run project. Additional City dollars not available for project.
February 2002 Mayor's Beautification negotiates contract with The BECK Group, general contractors, to build base bid project. BECK agrees to try and raise additional funds for remaining elements.

February 2002 Letter sent to Ken Hartmann, FDOT District 7 Secretary, requesting assistance with filling in the ditch along Dale Mabry Hwy. adjacent to the project.
February 2002 City of Tampa contacts the Bloch Foundation, through a letter and email, and communicates that construction is starting and what will be built. Indicated that additional elements would be built if funds become available.
March 2002 Construction starts. Construction schedule faxed to Bloch Foundation indicating what will be built.
March 2002 Bi-weekly updates, including photos, are sent to the Bloch Foundation regarding construction progress.
June 2002 Meeting held with BECK representative to discuss fund raising efforts. It was communicated that they are still working on it.
August 2002 Agreement with the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay to hold maintenance funds is revoked.
August 2002 Email sent to Bloch Foundation stating project was complete per the base bid elements and additional funds had not been raised for remaining elements.
August 2002 Letter received from Mr. Bloch that he expects all elements to be complete before final payment.
October 2002 Construction is completed by BECK, with the exception of the Sail Sculpture. BECK finalized site and removes job trailers and equipment. Final pay request submitted.
January 2003 Sail Sculpture is installed and plantings finalized. Parks installs benches.
February 2003 Package of photos and letter sent to Mr. Bloch.
March 2003 Mr. Bloch notifies City that he will not issue final payment or maintenance funds until final phase of work is complete.
May 2003 Mayor Iorio commits funds to finish the original design
August 2003 Change Order to original contract with BECK executed by Mayors Beautification Program
August 2003 Construction on the final phase of work, or phase II, begins.
October 2003 Project is on schedule and slated for completion by February 20, 2004.
