The
City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department owns and operates four
cemeteries. These cemeteries
total approximately 40 acres with 27,900 recorded burials to date. Oaklawn Cemetery was Tampa's
first cemetery. It was deeded in 1850
as a final resting place for "White and Slave Rich and
Poor."
