Tampa’s first Leash-free Activity Area opened on the west side of Al Lopez Park on
March 30, 2001 and encompasses about 1.5 acres. On September 20, 2001
the park was renamed to
James Urbanski
Leash-free Activity Area by Council Resolution.
Partially wooded and surrounded by a four foot chain
link fence it includes such amenities as a double gated entry with a
concrete slab, dog and human drinking fountains, picnic benches and
tables with dog waste pickup bag dispensers and waste containers. A
separately fenced 8,000 square foot area is available for owners of
small dogs.
