What you’ll need:
- 3 2-liter bottles
- red, white and blue acrylic paint
- brushes
- dried beans
- rubber bands
- newspaper
What to do:
- Paint each bottle differently with stars and stripes
- Let dry; add 2 tbsp. Dried beans to each bottle and close lid.
- To make ball, crumple newspaper first into a small ball. Begin
adding rubber bands until ball is approximately 3 – 3 ½"
across.
- Line up your pins on the lawn and play!
4 TH OF JULY FIRE CRACKERS
What you’ll need:
- 3 ft. of 3 ½" diameter fence post
- Drill w/ ¼" bit & 1/16" bit
- Acrylic paint (red, navy blue & white)
- Crackle medium
- Paint brushes
- Wire
- Wire cutters
- 1 foot of clothesline
- wooden hearts
What to do:
- For 18" firecracker, paint 2 coats of navy blue to top 1/3 of
firecracker, and 2 coats of white to bottom 2/3 of firecracker
- When dry, paint white stars on navy, and red stripes on white.
- Drill ¼" hole in top center of each firecracker. Drill 3
1/6" holes about ½" from center hole. Drill 1/16"
hole in point of each star.
- Add 4 ½" piece of clothesline to center hole. (You may
stiffen with glue or paraffin if you wish)
- Add varying lengths between 15" and 20" of wire. Coil
wire around dowel to form spirals. Push into 1/16" holes on
top. *(Add your hearts before spiraling)
- To make a 12" firecracker, follow directions above but paint
2 coats of red all over. Let dry, then spiral white stripes from
bottom to top. When white is dry, freehand paint navy stars all
over.
- To make 6" firecracker, follow same directions, but base coat
2 coats white. When dry, add red and white stripes.
- Follow directions for your crackle medium a your last step.
WINDOW
STICKERS
Red, white and blue for your windows!
What you’ll need:
- White glue & food coloring (or use pre-colored glue)
- Plastic surface
- Brushes
- patterns
What to do:
- You may do your designs free hand or use patterns from a coloring
book to place under plastic to use as a guide.
- You may squeeze outline shape first then fill in the inside with
colored glue. Add drops of food color to glue to get your desired
color. Too much food color may make glue runny!
- Let design dry. It usually takes 2 to 3 hours, or to make sure, dry
overnight.
- Now peel off the dry designs and stick them to insides of your
windows. HINT: They stick better when windows have been wiped clean of
dust and oil.
REVERSE DECOUPAGE PLATES
Make pretty serving ware all year long with seasonal inexpensive
napkins!
What you’ll need:
- Pretty napkins
- Glue (white)
- Brushes
- Clear plates
- Acrylic sealer
- scissors
What to do:
- Cut or tear napkins (use single ply)
- Coat the back of plate 6" at a time, with clear drying white
glue.
- Place your napkins on glue. You may overlap, but be sure all is
glued.
- When back of plate is completely covered, apply another layer of
glue on top of napkins. Let dry upside down.
- With sharp scissors, cut excess from edges. Add more glue if needed.
Let dry well before applying spray sealer.
4TH
OF JULY VINTAGE HEARTS
Make door decorations. Use on a grapevine wreath or as napkin rings.
What you’ll need:
- Grocery bag
- Sewing machine
- Acrylic paints (red, blue, yellow)
- Ruler
- Brushes
- Fiber fill
What to do:
- Cut out different size hearts (2 per decoration)
- With a ruler, draw on one side the flag design with area for stars
and stripes. Leave about ½" around the heart open for stitching
(see illustration)
- Paint the heart with acrylics and let dry.
- Stitch around heart ½", leaving a space to stuff with
fiberfill.
- After stuffing, continue stitching on machine until closed.
- For door hanger, take wire and attach near top of heart.
- Take a dowel and wrap wire to spiral.
- Punch other end across top of heart so that it is equal to first
wire.
- Shape to go over door knob.
FLAG COOKIES
Great with home made ice cream!
What you’ll need:
- Graham crackers
- Food coloring
- Small bowls
- Clean brushes

Vanilla frosting in tub
- Stirring sticks
What to do:
- Color your frosting by dividing it up. Leave some white, then make
red and blue by adding drops of food coloring.
- Paint your blue area first, then red and white stripes.
- Add dots of white on top of blue for the stars!! Yummy art to eat!
