Tampa Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of water-based programs for all ages and levels, ranging from swim lessons to recreational swimming to training for swim team competition.2009 Swim Lessons
Tampa Parks and Recreation Department is offering swim lessons for all ages and skill levels. Class levels range from Water Exploration, a program designed for infants 6 months and older and parent, up to pre-competitive swim lessons for the more advanced swimmers. American Red Cross certified swim instructors will teach your child how to swim and how to be safe in and around any aquatic environment. Classes are designed to introduce new skills in progression, so each new skill builds on the previous skills learned. Swim Lesson Session Dates Fee: $15 per session. $4 Activity Fee required for enrollment. Registration Information Free Swim LessonsThrough a partnership with Safe Kids Tampa, led by St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, the Tampa Parks and Recreation Department will offer vouchers for free swim lessons on a limited basis to eligible children ages 5-17 years. Funding made possible by the Hillsborough County Health Department. . Safe Kids Tampa swim lesson vouchers will be distributed on a
first-come, first-serve basis to qualified applicants at the following pools:
Copeland, Bobby Hicks, Cyrus Greene, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from 6 p.m.
- 8 p.m. starting Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

Swim at the New Tampa Family YMCA Pool
The City of Tampa and the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA
have a partnership that will enable the general public to enjoy the new
50-meter swimming pool located at
16221 Compton Drive in New Tampa.

Hours: Lifeguards NeededThe City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department employs lifeguards who are American Red Cross certified and who are proficient in current rescue and resuscitation techniques; observational skills; proactive lifeguard skills; active and passive rescues; spinal injury management; first responder skills; and advanced first aid and CPR.
