The following steps are what an applicant can expect:

• Initial City of Tampa application ( application forms & instructions )

• Physical Abilities Test (State approved obstacle course)

• Interview

• Background investigation to include:

  • Polygraph
  • Employment History
  • Credit History
  • Driving History
  • Drug Usage
  • Reference Check
  • Criminal History
  • Neighborhood Check

• Psychological Exam

• Physical Exam
  (the psychological and physical exams are given as a conditional offer of employment)
