PATROL

The District One Patrol Division serves Tampa's peninsula, west side, and Davis Islands areas with uniformed officer patrols, Street Anti-Crime squads, Q.U.A.D. squads and property crimes detectives. Some of the points of interest in District One are; Tampa International Airport, Raymond James Stadium Courtney Campbell Causeway and Bayshore Boulevard. The uniformed officers are deployed on a four days on, four days off work cycle (see shift cycle calendar at left) with twelve squads averaging twelve officers per squad. The uniformed officers are the highly visible components of the department and are the officers who typically respond to calls for service in Tampa.

DLIS

A squad of plainclothes detectives, the District Latent Investigation Squad is assigned to District One for latent investigation of crimes against property occurring in the area encompassed by the district. Part of the squad is also charged with conducting latent investigations on different types of assaults ranging from minor to serious.

QUAD

Each District utilizes Q.U.A.D. (Quick Uniformed Attack on Drugs) Squads to aggressively work toward the reduction of open street drug dealing within the city. Implemented in February of 1989, the unit's mission includes the investigation of all street level narcotics related offenses; the investigation of street level narcotics violations with the assistance of the residents in the affected community; gathering and dissemination of pertinent street level narcotic intelligence to other divisions; and direct access for citizens to Q.U.A.D. officers assigned to their community. The squads, in keeping with the goals of the Tampa police Department, conduct frequent initiatives to remove visible street drug dealers from neighborhoods and improve the quality of life for Tampa's residents and visitors.

SAC

The Street Anti-Crime squads assigned to each district are plainclothes squads that handle varied types of complaints and assignments. The squads work in each district to reduce prostitution and prostitution related crimes. SAC squads also work robbery, burglary and auto theft related crimes using various techniques to proactively reduce crime. They also respond to citizen complaints for special problems and concerns.

Crime Prevention

A police officer and a Community Service Officer are deployed to each district to act in a proactive approach to crime prevention. The team addresses complaints along with evaluating needs in their district's communities. They also function as the district liaison for the department's Neighborhood Watch Program.

School Resource Officers

In 1975, the Tampa Police Department and the Hillsborough County School Board established the School Resource Officer Program.  This program has the responsibility of combating crime on a pre-delinquent basis as well as helping our young community understand the functions of law enforcement and the importance of safety.  We also increase safety, security, and prevent violence within schools.

District 1 has 10 School Resource Officers and 1 Corporal with direct contact to approximately 13,000 students at the following schools on a yearly basis:

High Schools:  Jefferson, Plant, Blake and Robinson
Middle Schools:  Madison, Wilson, Monroe, Coleman and Stewart
Westshore Partnership School: Roland Park K-8
Charter Schools:  Trinity K-5, Trinity Middle and McFarland Middle
