Liana Lopez, Director of Public Affairs![]() Liana Lopez, 33, serves as the Public Affairs Director for the City of Tampa. She is a native and life-long resident of Tampa. Lopez began her work at the City of Tampa as an intern in 1996 in the Office of the Mayor with responsibilities in communications. After graduation, she went to work for a not-for profit arts organization and later went on to serve as the marketing coordinator and legislative liaison for William R. Hough & Co., a municipal bond firm. While at Hough, she attained her Series 7 License becoming an NASD Registered Representative. In January 2001, Lopez returned to the City of Tampa in the Neighborhood and Communications Office where she was responsible for media relations, special events, and community relations. In May 2003, Lopez began her work as Special Assistant to Mayor Iorio responsible for various projects including the management of communications efforts for the mayor’s office. She was appointed Director of Public Affairs in August 2005. Lopez graduated from the University of South Florida in 1996, with a bachelor of arts in mass communications with an emphasis in public relations and she is a graduate of the Hillsborough County public school system. In May 1999, she completed the Leadership on Board program. In 2002, she participated in USF’s Executive Fellows Program through the Florida Institute of Government and she participated in Tampa Connection in 2003. She also completed the Leadership Tampa program as a member of the 2006 class. She has been a member of the Public Relations Society of America since 1998 and joined the local chapter in 2005. Lopez served on the board of directors for the PACE Center for Girls Inc. from 2001 to 2006. She also served as the marketing co-chair for the Life Path Hospice Capital Campaign Steering Committee. In 2006 she served on the board of directors of the Academy of Holy Names. Lopez currently serves on the board of directors of The Tampa Connection, as co-chair of Sister to Sister Tampa and is a member of the Paint Your Heart Out Steering Committee. |
