Raised in Tampa, Florida, Steve received a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida in 1972. He joined the Navy upon graduation and spent 24 years in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps. His assignments included Officer in Charge of Construction in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Public Works Officer, Little Creek Amphibious Base and Public Works Support Department, Pacific Division Naval Facilities Engineering Command. While in the Navy, Steve obtained a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Florida.After retiring from the Navy in 1995, Steve moved to Cape Coral, Florida where he was first the Public Works Director, then City Manager for five years. Steve left the City of Cape Coral in 2001, to work for Grosse Pointe Development Corporation, where he was Senior Vice President and was in charge of infrastructure and land development. In January 2004, he came to work for Mayor Pam Iorio in the City of Tampa as Administrator of Public Works and Utilities Services. The Public Works, Stormwater, Water, Wastewater, Solid Waste and Contract Administration departments all report to Steve. Steve is a registered Professional Engineer in Florida and Virginia.
