Special Events Coordination

City parks are a favorite place for special events, family get-togethers and office outings. Picnic shelters, gazebos and buildings are available to rent provided that such rentals do not interfere with regular scheduled programs or city sponsored special events. All rental requests are on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to approval by the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department.

Important Notice

Effective July 1, 2009, full rental payment for the rental must be paid as soon as the original reservation request is taken. A reservation is not complete until all fees and the completed form, with permitee’s signature, are received and signed by the appropriate Department staff.

Reservations and Confirmations

  • Call or visit the Reservation Office to check the availability and reserve a shelter, gazebo or building.
  • Permittee must be 21 years of age.
  • A valid photo ID is required for all transactions.
  • Applications must be received at least 7 days in advance of your requested date.
  • Types of payment accepted: cash, check, money order, Visa and MasterCard.
  • Events larger than 199 people require a Special Event Park Permit. Reservations for a Special Event Park Permit must be made a minimum of 30 days in advance.
  • Permittes are responsible for following the rules and regulations for facility rentals as established by the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department.

Payments

Types of payment accepted: cash, check, money order, Visa and MasterCard. Make checks payable to the City of Tampa.

If payment is made by a personal check with insufficient funds in the account, a $20 fee will be added to the total and the terms of the permit are canceled until the permittee pays the amount due.

Non-profit Requests

Groups wishing to be considered for non-profit status must submit non-profit documentation with the application form (i.e., 501(c)3). Groups considered to be non-profit include churches, civic organizations, public schools, parochial and private schools, and athletic associations.

Picnic Shelter Rentals

Ten parks have picnic shelters and/or gazebos that are available to rent. Reservations are on a first-come, first serve basis and require a permit. Instructions are available on our Picnic Shelter Rental page.

Banquet Halls

Tampa Parks and Recreation Department has two facilities, Ragan Community Center Building Rental and Seminole Garden Center, available for rent for events such as weddings, meetings, and special activities.  To make a reservation, please call the Reservation Office at 813-274-8184. 

Please note: Seminole Garden Center is temporarily closed for renovations.

Community Centers

Additionally, rooms and recreation facilities are also available for rent for events. Please make reservations for rooms at community centers through the staff at each facility during regular operating hours. You can find contact numbers for all community centers on our website.

Athletic Fields

If you would like to reserve an athletic field for youth and adult games and practices or other athletic events, please contact the Athletic Office at (813) 231-5270.
