The City of Tampa Stormwater Department is a forward thinking agency that is constantly endeavoring to improve the quality of life for the visitors and residents of Tampa.

Vision and Mission

Provide the City of Tampa with outstanding Stormwater services to protect against flooding and pollution.

Responsibilities of The Stormwater Department

Maintain the drainage infrastructure. This includes cleaning stormdrain pipes and ditches. Repairing curbs & gutters, catch basins and installing new drainage systems.

Operates street sweepers and a vacuum truck to keep drains clear of debris. Uses various construction equipment for small drainage projects such as driveway pipe replacements, catch basin repairs and river bank repairs.

Construct and Oversees capital improvement projects such as pond construction and large Stormwater replacements/enhancements.

Goals and Objectives

The Stormwater department has established the following priorities:

• Establish community standards for Stormwater management.
• Improve planning in conjunction with proactive maintenance.
• Identify alternative funding sources and utilize best technologies.
• Reduce water pollution by increasing Stormwater treatment and decreasing sediment discharge.
• Utilize educational opportunities to prevent flooding and pollution.
