Museum Collection

The Tampa Museum of Art's collection of contemporary art is in storage while TMA is housed in its temporary location at 2306 N. Howard Avenue in Tampa. Construction of the new museum facility in downtown Tampa's Curtis Hixon Park will begin in early 2008, with the opening of the new building expected in the fall of 2009.

Sculpture

The sculptural objects in the collection are varied in their materials, methods, and aesthetic expression. Sculpture by renown artists such as Hiram Powers, Frederick W. MacMonnies, Isidore-Jules Bonheur, Jacques Lipchitz, and Conrad Marca-Relli are a few of the highlights in a diverse collection that also includes a significant number of works by regional artists. In addition, there is an extensive study collection of the work of the twentieth-century American sculptor C. Paul Jennewein, comprised of over 2000 objects, drawings, paintings, and related studio materials that were bequeathed to the museum in 1978 by the Jennewein family.
