Urban Design

The primary mission of the Urban Design Division is to maintain, conserve, and improve upon the physical beauty, character and order of the city, and the relationship of the people and their environment. 

Urban Design is concerned with ensuring responsible new development as well as the preservation of natural and historic resources. 

Urban Design Division works with other departments and the public by:

• Participating in development design review for all projects within designated overlays,
• Developing and maintaining urban design guidelines, and
• Providing conceptual and detailed urban design plans as required.
