The Planning Division is charged with determining if and when capacity in the Sanitary System is available for future development. Each system has different requirements. The needs for Sanitary Sewers are expressed in terms of the available capacity at the Howard F. Curren Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant and in the major downstream interceptors.

Sanitary Sewer

Needs assessments are prepared for both long and short term capacity demand. Its major responsibility is making sure that capacity at the Plant and in the collection system is in place before development can be permitted. This requires monitoring development and proposing expansion of the system when required and includes everything from connecting individual developments to constructing major line extensions. All development in the service area is subject to permitting by this division.
