Tampa embarked on an extensive meter replacement program in fiscal year 1992, to reduce authorized and unauthorized water use losses. As of Sept. 30, 2010, the City has replaced more than 260,000 meters, contributing to a reduction in non-revenue producing water. Below is a history of the meter replacement program History of Meter Replacements
In the Spring of 2008, the Water Department increased activity in the meter replacement program with a plan to change out over 60,000 meters over the next several years. To stay current on the change out schedule, the Department partnered with Volt Telecomm, Inc. These contractors working in the City on our behalf carry identification badges, drive vehicles with signs identifying them as a Volt representative, and contact customers - either in person or by leaving a door hanger - to explain the work that was performed. If you have any question about water service activity in your neighborhood, contact the Water Department's Emergency Repair and Service Section at (813) 274-7400. |
