To serve its reclaimed water customers more efficiently, Volt Telecom
Group, Inc. a contractor for the Tampa Water Department, will be
flushing Tampa's reclaimed water as part of a
preventive maintenance project designed to enhance the overall operation
of Tampa's reclaimed water system and support the City’s focus on
improving neighborhoods.
Flushing of the transmission main is scheduled to begin October 19, 2009, and should be completed no later than October 25, 2009. All customers should expect an interruption of their reclaimed water service throughout this period and plan accordingly for their irrigation needs. Because we will be using high levels of chlorine to flush the transmission system, it is crucial that customers do not turn their reclaimed water meter back on, or use any reclaimed water on their property, until notified it is safe to do so once the system has been shut down by the contractor.
Distribution Line Flushing: Between mid-November and mid-March each of the five reclaimed water distribution system zones are also scheduled to be flushed, resulting in short periods of service interruptions. Customers in each zone will be sent letters from the Tampa Water Department approximately two weeks prior to the flushing activity scheduled to effect their service.
During these flushing activities, local traffic may have to be diverted
in accordance with the Department of Transportation or Tampa’s Traffic
Engineering Division’s approved detour routing. We strive to make the
detour period as short as possible. Also, regardless of safety
procedures used, construction sites are very dangerous. Please keep
children and pets away from all construction and flushing sites at all
times. |
