7TH AVE DEVELOPMENT

CENTRO YBOR

Renovation of the Historic Centro Espanol Building

210,000 s.f. retail entertainment complex with 20 screen/4000 seat theater

$45 million ($5 million for Centro Espanol Bldg.)

CENTRO YBOR PARKING GARAGE

First Vertical Parking Structure for Ybor

1205 space parking garage one block south of Centro Ybor

Location is South of 6th Avenue, between 15th & 16th Streets

$12 million project

EDA GRANT/ INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS

$750,000 EDA Grant received, $1.8 million infrastructure program that includes:

1. 7th Avenue Streetscaping Project

Facelift for 10 blocks of 7th Avenue

Removal of the existing planters

Addition of Washington Palms

Art in Public Places component that entails decorative pavers along the sidewalk with tobacco leaf shapes and granite inscriptions from Ferdie Pacheco's book "Memoirs"

Addition of street furniture (i.e. benches) to complement the historic lights and trash receptacles

2. Gateway

Serves as an identifiable symbol for Ybor City

This landmark gateway is located at the intersection of 7th Ave. & Nick Nuccio

A smaller gateway, complimentary in design, is located in the median of Palm Ave at Nebraska

3. New District Signage Program that creates a new logo and look for Ybor City.  All of the vehicular and pedestrian signs will be replaced by new signs.  The program includes overhead signs, parking signs, destination signs, street name signs, bus parking, and coordination of existing signs with new poles.

4. Parking lot landscaping improvements to the public lots in Ybor City.

5. New historic lights (23) were installed on 8th Ave.

6. New traffic signal was installed at 8th Avenue and 21st & 22nd Streets

7. District wide sanitary sewer improvements.

8. Water vault improvements in deficient blocks for fire sprinkler operation.


8TH AVENUE DEVELOPMENT

STREETCAR

Major economic development tool for the revitalization of the greater downtown Tampa area.

The streetcar will connect three districts: Ybor City, Channel District and Downtown

Transportation link will encourage remote parking, promote tourism, contribute to the City’s ambiance and reinforce Tampa’s unique history

$55 million project

CENTENNIAL PARK IMPROVEMENTS

Addition of privately operated Alessi’s Cafe Beignet at west end

Improvements have included new restrooms with covered events area, improved lighting and removal of fountain at center of park.

Enhancement of park includes a new south entry with the addition of the Nick Nuccio Statue

Site of many special events as well as the weekly Ybor City Fresh Market, Main Street Quarterly Arts and Crafts Festivals, Festa Italiana, Super Paella and others.

CASITAS PROJECT

Florida Department of Transportation is coordinating the relocation and renovation of  5 casitas near I-4 to the east side of 19th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.  The casitas will be dedicated to the City of Tampa to develop and then managed by the Ybor Museum as retail spaces. Rents will go to support Ybor City Museum Society.


9TH & PALM AVE DEVELOPMENT

YBOR HILTON GARDEN INN

First Hotel in Ybor City

90 Guestrooms, Conference Rooms and courtyard to be built at the 1700 block of 9th Avenue and Palm Avenue

Project cost is $6 million

K & K DEVELOPMENT

14,000 s.f. office development project at southwest corner of 9th Avenue and 18th Street

$1.5 million project

HCC PUBLIC SERVICES TECHNICAL BUILDING

77,400 s.f. new college building for programs that serve the college’s link to the public agencies

Building supports 22 police, corrections and fire academies conducted each year

$9.4 million project

TECO CHILLER

Advanced Cooling System for Ybor City

Located on 16th Street at Palm Avenue, adjacent to the new HCC building

$1.8 million project

YBOR SQUARE RENOVATION

90,000 s.f. renovation of the historic Ybor Square into build to-suit office space. 

ZOM Corporation is the developer

GERMAN AMERICAN CLUB

One of the last historic social clubs to be renovated

$2.1 million project

Developed by Tampa Bay Economic Development Corporation in 1997.  Home of the Ybor Service Center, City of Tampa offices.

THE PARK AT YBOR CITY (APARTMENTS / RETAIL COMPLEX)

Developer: Camden Subsidiary, Inc.

Located on the 5 Vacant Blocks north of Palm Ave

462 Upscale Apartment Units, 15,000 s.f. Commercial

Approximate Cost: $33 million

DON VINCENTE DE YBOR INN

Renovation of the 20,000 s.f. Gonzalez Clinic building into a 16 room luxury hotel with a restaurant and bistro

Southeast corner of 14th Street and 9th Avenue, across from Ybor Square

$1.7 million project

KFORCE.COM OFFICE DEVELOPMENT

Kforce.com (formerly Romac International, Inc.), an international personnel staffing company, developed the nine acre site behind TECO for their international headquarters.

Phase I:  $12 million project with an additional $18 million phase II plan.  The project brings 900+ new employees to the Ybor City area.

NICK NUCCIO PARKWAY DEVELOPMENT

PALM AVENUE PARKING GARAGE

Joint development project with Hillsborough Community College and the City of Tampa, where as HCC contributed $6 million plus land

1500 space parking garage, the second vertical parking structure for Ybor City

$15 million project

FLORIDA BREWERY OFFICE BUILDING

Renovation of the historic Florida Brewery Building into office spaces

$5.2 million project
