In the event of a major disaster, emergency services personnel can initially become overwhelmed leaving citizens on their own.  The Greater Tampa Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)  provides community training to enable citizens to help themselves and their neighbors by applying basic response and organizational skills during an emergency.  Training may include, damage assessments, CPR, AED, First Aid and other community assistance training.  CERT members may also serve as first responders in the community, until professional emergency services are able to arrive.  Additionally, FEMA offers online training and exercise opportunities at the National CERT Training website.
