Licenses and Permits
Research Business Tax Receipt records administered and maintained by the City of Tampa for businesses with a paid business tax receipt for the current fiscal year ending September 30. Pay or renew business tax/license using a credit card. The Business Tax Division is part of the City of Tampa's Department of Revenue and Finance and is responsible for the issuance and collection for all Business Tax Receipts under Chapter 24 of the City's code. The Division also administers the issuance of Business Operating permits to certain regulated businesses defined by Chapter 6 of the City code, and also handles the enforcement and maintenance of the Alcoholic Beverage/Wet Zoning Code set forth in Chapter 3. Additionally, the Division handles the collection of revenues from Rental Certificates, which are currently enforced by the Neighborhood Improvement Division of the Department of Business and Community Services. Search, add or pay express permits as well as view project and permit summaries and details for specific addresses. The Construction Services Division is responsible for construction plan reviews, permits, and inspections. Permits shall be issued and fees charged for various activities or processes that may cause or contribute to the spread of fire or hazardous conditions in any given occupancy. Franklin Street Mall is a six block, open air, pedestrian mall, in the heart of downtown Tampa. The Mall is the host location for weekday entertainment, a variety of sidewalk vendors selling a range of goods from hot dogs to hair scrunchies, and is frequently used as a venue for special events. The Mall also hosts numerous restaurants and retail shops and serves as a performance and activity site for downtown office workers and tourists. The City of Tampa Department of Growth Management and Development Services oversees every aspect of city development, including construction services, community redevelopment, affordable housing programs, city real estate transactions, and economic development. It is one of the most visibly active and ever changing elements of the city.
Historic Preservation and Urban Design is responsible for maintaining the integrity of historic districts by preserving contributing structures and insuring that any changes to these structures are implemented in a manner architecturally appropriate. The Land Development Coordination Division of Business & Housing Development handles zoning, right-of-way issues, and rezoning petitions. The Hillsborough County Clerk of the Circuit Court acts as an agent for the State of Florida for issuing licenses per Florida Statute 741. Apply for a monthly parking permit at City garages and lots. The Transportation Division operates the City's transportation system through its management of the City's transportation and traffic planning activities; transportation project survey, design, and construction supervision; and sign, signal, and roadway maintenance activities.
