Michael Hutner is the Tampa Police Department Deputy Chief of Investigations & Support. He joined the Tampa Police Department in 1998 and previously served as a Major over the Criminal Investigations Division.

During his career, he has worked in all three districts and has been assigned to a variety of units including Field Training, Street Anti-Crime, Rapid Offender Control, and District Detective.  As a Lieutenant, he was assigned as a Tactical Lieutenant in Districts One and Two overseeing the Community Oriented Policing Squads, Rapid Offender Control Units, and District Detectives.  As Captain, he served as a commander in District Two and the Major Crimes Bureau.  Prior to his current role, he served as the Major of the Criminal Investigation Division overseeing the department’s Homicide squad, Special Victims Unit, Internet Crimes Again Children, narcotic squads, forensic unit, Fugitive Apprehension Unit, and Crime Gun Intelligence Unit.  Deputy Chief Hutner is known as a crime fighter with vast experience in investigations and operations.

Deputy Chief Hutner has a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute of Policing.
