The City routinely relies on architectural and engineering firms for design, bid document preparation, construction inspection, survey, landscape design and related services. Community Redevelopment Areas The Economic and Urban Development Department is responsible for coordinating and directing citywide redevelopment initiatives, community planning and marketing redevelopment opportunities to the private sector using professional staff and consulting resources. The department is dedicated to maximizing the quality, pace and beneficial economic impact of Tampa's key strategic community revitalization and urban development and economic incentives. The Enterprise Zone program offers financial incentives to businesses and property owners located in designated areas. These incentives are offered to encourage private investment in the zones as well as employment opportunities for the area’s residents. Such incentives include jobs tax credits, property tax credits, sales tax refund for building materials, machinery and equipment and the Community Contribution Tax Credit program. Florida business advocate group On a continuous basis the Minority Business Development (MBD) Office conducts outreach efforts to identify and register women and minority businesses interested in supplying goods and services to the City. North Tampa business advocate group The Real Estate Division is part of the Business and Housing Development Department. The Division acts as a central service organization, providing the purchase, sale, leasing and property management services of real estate for other City departments. The Tampa Bay Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO) is a private, not-for profit corporation committed to supporting economic development and job creation in the Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough County only) through private public partnerships that create innovative, accessible financing for small businesses. mission is to increase market visibility for the Tampa Bay area and to aid in relocating and expanding companies Tampa business advocate group Tampa Downtown Partnership is a not-for-profit organization focusing on the revitalization of Tampa's center city area. Formed in 1986, it has a broad constituency and strong relationship with local government and community organizations. Companies presently certified by the City of Tampa for the Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action, Women/Minority Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise Programs. Ybor City business advocate group Ybor City Development Corporation, Inc. (YCDC) is a not-for-profit Florida corporation created in October 4, 1988, by the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Tampa to promote redevelopment in the Ybor City Area. The YCDC is the City’s primary vehicle for planning, promoting development, and assisting with the redevelopment of Ybor City through public and private sector offices. |
