Build Your Own Rebate (BYOR) Program

Water Piggy BankThe Tampa Water Department is offering a limited number of rebates to residential and commercial account holders to encourage potable water use reductions. Rebate amounts are determined by account type and by choices made by individual participants to achieve reduction goals.

  • The Build Your Own Rebate (BYOR) program will available to account holders during calendar year 2014. Potential participants can determine which rebate option would be appropriate for their service location by reviewing a copy of their City of Tampa utility bill and locating the Water Customer Class designation. Bills of  participants who may qualify for the single-family residential rebates will read  "RESIDENTIAL" in the "Water Customer Class" area. Account holders with any water customer class designation other than "RESIDENTIAL" may qualify for the commercial rebates.  If a paper copy of the City of Tampa utility bill is unavailable, a replica copy may be viewed online.

  • Enrollment must be completed on or after January 2, 2014 and before close of business, January 31, 2014.  Applications are not being accepted at this time. Please return to during month of January to download an application.

Single-Family Residential Customers

Single family residential customers select a reduction goal and choose their own ways to reduce use. No specific reduction method is required by the program. Participants will also be assigned a personal efficiency coach and be offered individual counseling and advice on achieving their commitment goals. Rebates range from $50 to $500, based on individual participant reduction goals and achievement. Details are included in program eligibility and program criteria.



All Except Single-Family Residential Customers


Customers participating in the rebate program that are not single-family residential can select from a set menu of rebate-eligible activities to assist in water use reductions.  Each menu item includes criteria specific to each item that must be adhered to in order to achieve a rebate.  Rebates range from $75 to $1,000, based on selected reduction measures. Rebates are capped at $2,500 per location. Details are included in program eligibility and program criteria.
