New to Downtown

Perry Harvey, Sr. Park: Four major artworks by four artists work together in an attempt to tell the full and complex story of the abundant contributions of the African American community and Historic Central Avenue.

Riverwalk: North-End / Final Completion: The City of Tampa recently installed new public art installations that enhance the experience of the beautiful Riverwalk. Just a short walk from Waterworks Park to the Tampa Museum, visitors will see gorgeous sculptures, a colorful glass installation, and murals that wrap a downtown garage

In process: New Public Art is coming to downtown's Julian B. Lane Park in 2018. Stay tuned!

Murals

The City of Tampa has commissioned many murals for the city over the past few years, many that depict the history of the community.  Take a look at the City's murals, grouped by neighborhood: Ybor, Downtown, East Tampa / Sulphur Springs, West Tampa. www.tampagov.net/art-programs/murals

Curious to find out how these projects come about? The division has several programs that develop projects from concept to completion.  Many of these objects can be found in public parks, facilities and integrated into the infrastructure of buildings, but some, such as the photographer laureate collection, can be found via the web. Interested in additional information on the artists and works? Browse our educational resources library for downloadable information sheets, as well as links to many mini documentaries on the artists and installations.
