Assessment of Fair Housing

The City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, and the Tampa Housing Authority are in the process of drafting an Assessment of Fair Housing (AFH). The AFH is an analysis of fair housing data, fair housing issues and contributing factors, and an identification of fair housing priorities and goals to affirmatively further fair housing in the region as required under the federal Fair Housing Act and local Human Rights Ordinances.

Entitlement communities and public housing authorities are required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development(HUD) to complete an AFH every five years.  The City, County, and the THA are required to take meaningful actions, to combat discrimination, to overcome patterns of segregation, and to foster inclusive communities free from barriers that restrict access to opportunity based on race, color, religion, sex, familial status, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity/expression.

The City and County will hold public meetings to inform residents about the AFH as well as provide an opportunity for all to participate in the fair housing planning process and provide feedback on fair housing issues in the region.
