live entertainment, and FOUR firework displays along 2.5 miles of Tampa's waterfront.

City of Tampa Parking and shuttle options for Boom by the Bay:


Accessible parking is available at all public parking facilities and on the south side of Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park.

Julian B Lane Park/Water Works Park Viewing

  • Ft. Brooke Garage (Whiting St., between Franklin St. & Florida Ave.) will open at 5:00 pm at a rate of $10 per vehicle. Please visit tampagov.net/Parking and follow the link for pre-paid parking. This location will have two shuttle options: 1) the rubber wheel trolley shuttle for Julian B Lane Riverfront Park access 2) the streetcar line with access to the Tampa Convention Center and Sparkman Wharf.
  • Poe Garage (Ashley St., south of Cass St.) will open at 5:00 pm at a rate of $10 per vehicle. Please visit tampagov.net/Parking and follow the link for pre-paid parking.
  • Royal Regional Lot (Tampa St. & Fortune St.) will open at 5:00 pm at a rate of $5 per vehicle. Please visit tampagov.net/Parking and follow the link for pre-paid parking.
  • Scott Street Lot (1301 N Morgan St), will open at 5:00 pm at a rate of $5 per vehicle.

Tampa Convention Center & Sparkman Wharf Viewing
  • Tampa Convention Center Garage (141 E. Brorein St.) will open at 5:00 pm at a rate of $10 per vehicle.
  • Pam Iorio Parking Garage (301 Channelside Drive)will open at 5:00 pm at a rate of $10 per vehicle.
  • Ft. Brooke Garage (Whiting St., between Franklin St. & Florida Ave.) will open at 5:00 pm at a rate of $10 per vehicle. Please visit tampagov.net/Parking and follow the link for pre-paid parking. Park & Ride or Park & Walk Options
  • Centro Ybor Garage (5th Ave and 15th St) will open at 3:00 pm at the standard hourly rate with a $9.15 daily maximum. This location offers easy access to the streetcar line with access to Sparkman Warf, Tampa Convention Center, and Fort Brooke Garage.
  • Palm Ave Garage (13th St and 9th Ave) will open at 6:00 am at the standard hourly rate with a $9.15 daily maximum. This location offers easy access to the streetcar line with access to Sparkman Warf, Tampa Convention Center, and Fort Brooke Garage.
  • Twiggs St. Garage (Twiggs St., west of Nebraska Ave.) will open at 7:00am at the standard hourly rate of $1.20/hr, with a $7.15 daily maximum. This will be an automated facility with a Paystation collecting payment on the exit.
  • Meters south of Kennedy Blvd. and on Kennedy Blvd will be enforced from 8:00 am until midnight on July 4th, 2019.

How do I get event notifications?

What is the Boom by the Bay?
Boom by the Bay is a new event featuring fireworks in four locations along 2.5 miles of the Downtown Tampa Waterfront accompanied by a variety of entertainment and activities. We are working with our community partners at our anchor locations of Armature Works, Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, the Tampa Convention Center and Sparkman Wharf to be a unique new event to the City of Tampa for residents of all ages to enjoy.
When is the event?
The event will take place on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Activities will begin between 4:00 and 6:00pm, depending on location, and last until the completion of the fireworks. The fireworks are scheduled to start at 9pm, weather permitting, and will last 20 minutes.
What time are the fireworks?
The fireworks are scheduled for 9:00pm, but may be slightly adjusted due to weather concerns.
How long will the fireworks last?
Each location is scheduled for 20 minutes.
Will all of the locations shoot at the same time?
Yes, all of the fireworks displays will take place simultaneously.
Where are the four locations?
All fireworks will be shot from barges along the downtown waterfront.
From north to south:
  1. Hillsborough River bend between Armature Works and Blake High School
  2. Hillsborough River south of Laurel Street and the Fortune Taylor Bridge between Julian B. Lane Park and the Tampa Riverwalk
  3. The basin in front of the Tampa Convention Center
  4. The turning basin in front of Sparkman Wharf and the Channel District

We will have additional viewing areas in Waterworks Park and Cotanchobee Park with some family friendly fun and live entertainment. Fireworks will not be visible from Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

Are there any differences between the locations?
All sites will have the same length of show, but there will be some differences in the size of some of the shells due to safety distances. The shoot at the Channel District will have the largest shells, while the display in front of Riverfront Park will have two barges creating a wider show.
How do I get to the event?
All HART bus services will be FREE on the 4th of July, with additional shuttles available in Downtown Tampa. See the HART map above for routes/stops that connect to Boom by the Bay locations.

A free bike valet will also be available at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. Other options include:
  • Downtowner (FREE)
  • TECO Line Streetcar (FREE)
  • HART Buses (FREE on July 4th, 2019 - (See map below)
  • Coast Bike Share
  • Electric Scooters - Bird, Lime, Spin, Jump
  • Pirate Water Taxi

For those driving to the event, please note parking may be limited at certain locations. You can prepay for parking at City of Tampa lots through ParkMobile.
Where should I park?
We strongly encourage everyone to use rideshare and public transit options. All HART services will be FREE on the 4th of July with additional shuttles running in Tampa’s Downtown to connect event goers to Boom by the Bay locations.

All City garages will be available, along with street parking and private lot options. We also encourage attendees to park in Ybor City and take the TECO Streetcar into downtown. Accessible parking is available at all public parking facilities and on the south side of Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park.

Are there any costs to attend?
The fireworks are free to attend, but charges will be applicable for any food or drink.
What are the food and drink options?
Armature Works and Sparkman Wharf will be open for business, and there will be food trucks at the Tampa Convention Center, Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, Water Works Park, and Cotanchobee Park. There are also many options downtown and along the Riverwalk.  
What type of entertainment will there be?
There will be a variety of music and family-friendly activities in several locations. See our schedule above and follow the City of Tampa on social media for the most up to date information.    
Can I bring my own food and drink?
You are welcome to bring food and soft drinks to the Riverwalk and Parks. Please do not bring alcohol. Adult beverages are available from businesses and at Riverfront Park. The Riverwalk cup program allows for people to consume them while they enjoy the Riverwalk and adjoining areas. Grilling and other cooking is prohibited.   
Can I bring my dog?
Please remember that the fireworks will be loud and may not be a good environment for your four-legged friends. Well-behaved pets that are kept on a leash are welcome on the Riverwalk and in the parks. Service animals are always welcome.  
Can I bring chairs, umbrellas, or coolers?
Chairs and blankets will be allowed, as well as small coolers. Large umbrellas or tents will not be permitted. For security, all items are subject to search, and please don’t leave your belongings unattended.  
Can I bring my own fireworks, sparklers, etc.?
For the safety and comfort of other attendees please do not bring your own fireworks, including sparklers. All fireworks are prohibited in City parks and on the Tampa Riverwalk. Besides, we have you covered with over 30,000 shells!  
Are there any boating restrictions during Boom by the Bay?
Boat traffic will be prohibited between the North Boulevard Bridge and the Cass Street Bridge from 8pm to approximately 9:30pm. We recommend that boaters that wish to view the fireworks find a location by either of the two firework displays in the waterways and channels near the Tampa Convention Center or Ybor Turning Basin.    
Will there be designated areas for port-o-lets?
Yes. Port-o-lets will be provided at Cotanchobee Park, the Tampa Convention Center, Julian B. Lane, Riverfront Park, and Water Works Park.    
How are these fireworks being funded?
The fireworks are being paid for through the generous support of community partners who recognize that the community desires and deserves to have an impressive Independence Day celebration.    
I see something that doesn’t look right, what should I do?
See Something, Say Something! If it is a public safety issue or something suspicious, please let a nearby police officer know, or call 911. For other issues, please let any of our onsite staff know.
