City of Tampa Traffic Advisory for the Tampa Police Memorial Run on October 11

The 20th Annual Tampa Police Memorial 5K and 1 Mile Run takes place on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Motorists should expect traffic delays in and around the area during the morning hours.

Organizers expect over 1,600 participants for the runs.

Beginning at 5 am, motorists will experience delays due to street closures in downtown Tampa.

Street Closure Schedule

Start/Finish Line Set-up begins at 5 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Madison Street between Tampa Street and Florida Avenue.

Route Closed - 7:15-10 a.m.

Kennedy Blvd. from Florida Ave. to Ashley Dr.,
Madison St. between Tampa St. and Ashley Dr.
Tampa St. from Zack St. to Jackson St.
Ashley St. from Madison St. to Brorein St.
Brorein St. from Florida Ave.  to Parker St.
Bayshore Blvd. from Brorein St. to Rome Ave.

5K Route

From the starting line in the 200 block of Madison Street, the route continues west onto Tampa St.  Runners will turn right onto Brorein Street then be directed onto southbound lane of Bayshore Blvd.  Runners will make a U-turn at Newport Ave into the northbound lane of Bayshore Blvd and run back to downtown on the outbound route to the finish line on Madison Street.

Drivers and pedestrians alike are advised to allow for extra travel time and to travel through the area with caution.   To ensure public safety, the Tampa Police Department will have sufficient personnel stationed along the route to guide pedestrians and motorists. Area roadways will re-open to traffic as the race progresses and safety permits.
