The Tampa Police K-9 Unit will participate in the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority's official opening and dedication of the Deputy John Kotfila, Jr. Memorial Dog Park.  The ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at 705 Raymond Street. It will include the unveiling of the Deputy John Robert Kotfila, Jr. Memorial Statue.

Hillsborough County Deputy John Robert Kotfila, Jr. lost his life to a wrong-way driver on the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway in March of last year.  The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority created the dog park in honor of Deputy Kotfila Jr.'s service to the community and the strong bond he shared with his German Shepard, Dexter.

This event is open to the public.  There will be kid's games, dog bowl giveaways, and food and drinks.
