What is a Booty Drop?
In Tampa, we don’t drop the ball on city events… but we will be dropping a treasure chest for New Yarrgh’s Eve.
The New Yarrgh’s Eve Booty Drop will be a unique countdown experience featuring a 320ft tall “booty drop” projection on Rivergate Tower. This dynamic visual display will be 3-D mapped and feature a treasure chest being lowered on the side of the building, visible from Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.
Grab ye krewe and join us for this one-of-a-kind signature event—it’s a sight you won’t want to miss!
What is a 3-D mapped projection?
Projection mapping is a technique that involves projecting computer-animated visuals onto an object, rather than a flat surface. To accomplish this, the object (in this case, Rivergate Tower) must be 3-D mapped to create an immersive visual experience.
Why a treasure chest?
Tales of legendary pirates have been part of Tampa’s history for generations. In honor of these early buccaneers, and the upcoming Gasparilla event season, we’re adding some Tampa flare to our New Year’s Eve celebration by dropping some booty—the pirate word for treasure—on Rivergate Tower.
Is this event free?
Yes! New Yarrgh’s Eve is a free, family-friendly event. Food trucks and vendors will be available on-site to purchase food and beverage.

Where can I park?

Parking is available for a nominal rate at multiple locations adjacent to the event. Accessible parking is available at all public parking facilities.
