Current Minnesota Vikings Wide Receiver and former Ohio State Buckeye great Michael Jenkins will be providing an opportunity for 100 youth in grades 9th – 12th to participate in the 1st Annual Michael Jenkins Football Camp in Tampa, Florida. The camp is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2012 and will be held at the Tampa NFL YET Center, located at 3310 East Lake Avenue.

The camp includes football skills and agility training along with offense and defense position specific instruction, led by some of the very best NFL, collegiate, and high school coaches and players in the country. The camp will be conducted free of charge thanks to the resources provided by Michael Jenkins and the camp hosts, the Tampa NFL YET Center and City of Tampa.

NFL players Donovan McNabb, Roddy White (Atlanta Falcons), Harry Douglas (Atlanta Falcons) and Kevin Burnett (Miami Dolphins) join a host of other current and former NFL players committed to leading the instruction for the participants. “The skills taught to the youth at this camp are the same skills used by college greats, Pro Bowl players, and Super Bowl champions,” says Jenkins. “The participants will have the experience of a lifetime.”

The camp offers far more than Xs and Os. Students will be taught the importance of academics, leadership and methods to successfully enter college. The goal of the camp is to expose the participants to the tools necessary for success on the field as well as in the classroom. “It has been my desire to come back to Tampa and provide the youth with positive examples and inspiration to reach their dreams. We will not only be instructing the next great NFL player, but the field will contain the next generation of teachers, doctors, lawyers, and community leaders,” says Jenkins.

The camp culminates with an autograph session with Michael Jenkins and his fellow NFL and college players who thoroughly enjoy sharing with the student-athletes what they know about the great game of football. For more information on the camp, please contact Gavin McGuire at 678-522-4133.
