Arrestee Escaped From Police Car and Located Shortly After

While attempting a traffic stop in the area of Hillsborough Ave./Nebraska, the driver of the subject vehicle threw a large baggie out of the window of the car he was driving and kept driving, coming to a stop at Powhatan/Nebraska. As one officer retrieved the baggie the other conducted the traffic stop. While being detained it was confirmed that the baggie contained 35 grams of cocaine. The driver was placed under arrest and handcuffed in the back seat of a patrol car. A few minutes later he asked to speak with the officer. When the door was opened he jumped from the rear seat striking the officer with his head and body. The officer was stunned momentarily and slightly injured. The subject began to run and was taken into custody a few blocks away. The subject/defendant was uncooperative and refused to give his name. He will be charged with several felonies to include Drug Possesion, Battery on a LEO and Escape. Investigation still ongoing.
