Audit Report 09-10, Grants Management, Released

03/18/15
The Internal Audit Department released their audit report of Grants Management.

The City of Tampa (City) receives a number of grants from both federal and state sources. As of September 30, 2009, the City received over $41 million in federal dollars and $6.2 million in state dollars. These funds are utilized for a variety of programs including, but not limited to, housing, environmental, and capital projects. Currently, the grants are applied for and managed by many different departments. Some departments have specific individuals that apply for the grants by looking through professional journals then applying for them. The City is currently going through a consolidation process. In this process, grants management will be the responsibility and under the direction of the Chief Accountant. The goal is to have one department in charge of the grants from application through reporting and receipt of funds.
