Back to School Patrols Officers patrol school zones

WHEN: Tuesday, August 23, 7:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: Tampa Police officers will patrol all elementary, middle and high schools in the City of Tampa to ensure a smooth return to the classroom.

DETAILS:
The Tampa Police Department is working to ensure that children are safe on the first day back to school. Officers will ensure drivers are obeying all school zone and bus traffic laws. They will also be assisting with traffic direction and helping students cross the streets safely. We will have increased patrols at the schools and on bus routes for the first two weeks of school.

$256 ticket, Passing stopped school bus
$141 ticket, 1-9 MPH over school zone speed limit
$291 ticket, 10-14 MPH over school zone speed limit
$391 ticket, 15-19 MPH over school zone speed limit
$446, ticket, 20-29 MPH over school zone speed limit
**Mandatory court appearance for driving 30 MPH over school zone speed limit
