Berns ParkMayor Buckhorn was joined by the Laxer family and Tampa City Council for the grand re-opening of Berns Park on Wednesday, July 27, 2011.

The park has undergone renovations including brick-lined walkways and curved brick walls, benches, decorative fencing, signage, fountain, and landscaping. The Laxer Family donated the 'Three Graces,' a life-sized sculpture by the artist Karoy. The 6-foot-high work was cast in Romania and is the fountain's centerpiece. A plaque, with text honoring Bern Laxer, was written by the Laxer family and is prominently placed on a brick column.

Community fund raising efforts by Historic Hyde Park Neighborhood Assn., Bayshore Garden Neighborhood Assn., and Hyde Park Preservation Inc. paid for shrubs and ground covers.
