DETAILS: Dating back as far as November 2014, there have been a series of commercial burglaries around the Tampa Bay area with a similar MO.  There have been 29 in District 1 (South Tampa).  Good investigative work and meetings with other affected agencies led to identifying Antonio Wright as a possible suspect.  TPD ROC officers began surveillance on the suspect on October 11th.  At 3:20 a.m. this morning, the suspect left his home in St. Petersburg.  Members of the Tampa Police Department and St. Petersburg Police Department auto theft task force were in the area and joined the moving surveillance of the suspect.  TPD Air service joined the surveillance.  The suspect parked his car at Delaware and Swann Avenue and officers followed on foot.  They heard glass break and as they ran to the market, they watched the suspect leaving the store carrying the cash register drawer.  As officers were telling him to stop, he ran and tried to climb over a chain link fence.  An officer deployed his taser, but it had no effect. He was successfully tasered a 2nd time and officers took him into custody.
