Cast Your Vote for the City of Tampa Department of Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management Recycling Truck Art

02/13/18

The City of Tampa’s Department of Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management invites you to cast your vote in the 12th Annual  3Rs’ Art Contest Winner.

The annual 3Rs’ Art Contest, an outreach priority of the Department, is designed to engage Tampa’s youth and partner with them to communicate the importance of recycling and waste reduction programs.  Several local schools and after school programs annually identify students from every grade level to participate in the recycling education program.  At the end of the program, participants creatively convey the “recycling right” message through art and poetry.   Those participants become recycling advocates for our community.  The program has grown significantly over the years.  Last year, more than 100 participants from 5 schools and 8 afterschool programs entered the contest.

Residents are able to vote for their favorite submission on-line from Friday, February 9, 2018 through March 9, 2018, by visiting the Department’s website at www.tampagov.net/solidwaste.  There will also be opportunities to vote in person at the Gasparilla Art Festival and other local events.   The first place winning artist for each grade level, (elementary, middle and high) will be recognized in person by the Mayor and their artwork will be displayed on a City of Tampa recycling truck for one year.

For additional questions or concerns, please call the City of Tampa’s Department of Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management at (813) 348-1146, or visit our website at  www.tampagov.net/solidwaste.
