Cast Your Vote for the City of Tampa Department of Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management Recycling Truck Art

01/20/17

The City of Tampa’s Department of Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management invites you to cast your vote for the 2016 3R’s Art Contest Winner.  The 11th annual 3R’s Art Contest is designed to engage the City of Tampa’s youth in recycling.

Over 100 students at every grade level from 5 local schools and 8 after school programs have participated in the contest.  Students learn from Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management Recycling Staff the benefits of recycling, recycling trends (i.e. recycling contamination) and what can and cannot be recycled.  The contest is another outreach priority of the Department to engage and educate Tampa’s residents on the importance of recycling.  Following the recycling education program, students create art with a goal of conveying a message about recycling right!

Residents can visit the Department website at www.tampagov.net/solidwaste to view selected artwork and vote for their favorite submissions.  Voters can cast their votes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner for each grade level; elementary, middle and high.  Contest voting will be open until January 31st, 2017.

The first place winning art design for each grade level will be displayed on a City of Tampa recycling truck for one year.  Cast your vote to help recognize the talented youth in the City of Tampa.

For additional questions or concerns, please call the City of Tampa’s Department of Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management at (813) 348-1146, or visit our website at   www.tampagov.net/solidwaste.
