Clear Channel Outdoor unveils digital billboards thanking the chief for her 31 years of service


WHEN:          Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10 a.m. 

WHERE:       Tampa Convention Center, 333 South Franklin Street (Rooms 18-19)


Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor will stand alongside Mayor Bob Buckhorn on Friday, May 8 at the Tampa Convention Center to welcome 25 new officers into the Tampa Police Department family.  This dedicated group of men and women will be the last to receive a new Tampa Police Department badge from Chief Castor before she retires. 

During her 31 years as a Tampa Police officer, Chief Jane Castor has built a reputation for working side-by-side with citizens, neighborhood leaders, activists and business owners to solve crime problems and improve our community. Those strong partnerships are now the foundation of the Department's crime reduction strategy, leading to unprecedented success in making Tampa a safer city. Since Chief Castor implemented the  Focus on Four crime reduction plan in 2003, crime has dropped  70% in Tampa.

Clear Channel Outdoor donated four digital billboard spaces to thank Chief Castor for her commitment to serving the citizens of Tampa.  The police department’s long-standing community partner activated the digital spaces on Thursday, May 7th.  The donated ads will run until Chief Castor retires on Friday, May 8th.   The digital billboards are located at:

Channelside Drive and Nebraska Avenue

I-275 near North Boulevard

I-275 near Grady Avenue

I-275 near Memorial Highway

The swearing in ceremony is open to the friends and family members of the new recruits along with the general public.
